Physics Trivia : The concept of inertia

Who discovered the concept of inertia for the first time?

It is Galileo Glilei(1564 - 1642), not Isaac Newton (1642 - 1727).
Newton was born in the year when Galileo died.
In addition, Galileo is the same age as William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616).

Galileo first theorized the idea of inertia and Newton worked further to develop it into a law.

The law of inertia is one of Newton's law of motion and it states that an object that is at rest will stay at rest unless an external force acts upon it and an object that is in motion will not change its velocity unless an external force acts upon it.
It was a philosopher of the sixth century to have had a question first towards natural philosophy of Aristotle (BC384 - 322).
It took long time of 1000 years until Galileo found an inertial law.
