Physics Trivia : The speed of oxygen molecule

Under the normal temperature, oxygen molecule is moving at 480m per second (1700km per hour) and hydrogen molecule is 1900m per second.

However , the number of collisions of oxygen each other is six billion times per second. 

Therefore, the distance the molecule to move in between the collision ( = mean free path) is 8 × 10 ^ -8 m.
